Acceptance
By creating an account, scanning a KNOC QR code, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use KNOC.
What KNOC is
KNOC is an asynchronous digital doorbell. Owners create QR codes that, when scanned, let a visitor send a short message โ text, audio, photo, and an optional phone number โ to the owner. The owner can reply through the app or web dashboard. KNOC does not place phone calls and is not a substitute for emergency services.
Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for everything that happens under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your country) to create an owner account.
Acceptable use
Don't use KNOC to: harass, threaten, or stalk anyone; collect submissions deceptively (for example, posting a QR code at a location you don't control to harvest visitor data); upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or sexually exploitative of minors; attempt to break, probe, or overload the service; resell access to KNOC without our written permission.
We may suspend or close any account that uses the service in a way that puts other users or the service at risk.
Content and submissions
Owners are responsible for the content they post or display in association with a door (door names, business information, replies, and so on). Visitors are responsible for what they choose to submit when scanning a code. We may remove content that violates these terms or that is reported as abusive, and we cooperate with valid legal requests.
You retain rights to your own content. You grant us a limited license to host, route, and display that content as needed to operate the service for you.
Plans, billing, and limits
Free accounts include a single active door, basic notifications, and a short visibility window for past knocks. Paid plans expand active-door capacity, retention, and feature availability. Plan details are described inside the app and may evolve over time. Charges are billed through Stripe. You can cancel a paid subscription from inside the app; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period unless we say otherwise.
Service availability and disclaimers
We work hard to keep KNOC available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. The service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the maximum extent permitted by law. Push notifications, SMS delivery, and visitor submissions depend on third parties (mobile networks, app stores, push providers); we cannot guarantee that every message will arrive instantly or at all.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, KNOC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost business opportunities. Our total liability for direct damages connected to the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 50.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits in full; nothing here is intended to limit rights you have under mandatory local law.
Your indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless KNOC from claims arising out of your use of the service in violation of these terms or in violation of someone else's rights, to the extent permitted by law.
Termination
You can stop using KNOC and delete your account at any time from the Settings page. We can suspend or close your account if you breach these terms or if continuing to provide service to you would expose us to legal risk. We will normally try to give you a chance to fix the problem first.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction where KNOC's operating entity is registered, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Specific dispute-resolution mechanics will be set out in a final, lawyer-reviewed version of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will give you reasonable notice (typically through the app or by email if you have an account). Continued use after the changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.
